We are the Sherman County Soil & Water Conservation District (SWCD), located in Moro, Oregon. We take the smartest and most passionate team-oriented people we can find and put them in an environment where they can thrive. We currently have a position open for a Watershed Coordinator.
In this position, you will organize meetings, manage grants, and coordinate projects on behalf of the Watershed Council and landowners. You will also write watershed assessments and maintain action plans together with Watershed Council members and technical advisors. In addition, this position develops and maintains a GIS geodatabase and participates in educational opportunities, including workshops and tours, and maintains the Watershed Council website and social media. You will also work independently with minimal supervision and be responsible for prioritizing daily work tasks, scheduling field work, and participating in meetings.
As the Watershed Coordinator, you will gain experience and training in multiple watershed restoration activities throughout the Lower Deschutes and Lower John Day watersheds. This position requires the ability to work in a variety of job conditions ranging from local travel, field work in the summer and winter months, to work on-site at our office in Moro. A valid driver’s license is required.
Other required job skills:
· Computer proficiency, in particular with Outlook, Word, and Excel (or Google Suite)
· Problem-solving ability with diverse groups of people
· Advanced written and oral communication skills
Knowledge of Geographic Information Systems (ESRI, ArcGIS) and grant writing experience is helpful. Knowledge of farming and ranching practices is essential. Education in any agriculture or natural resources field is beneficial to the position. A Bachelor of Science or Associate of Science degree is desirable, although not required.
The Watershed Coordinator position is full-time with a pay range of $21.21-$28.83 per hour depending on experience.
