Small Grant Funding
These funds are from the Oregon Watershed Enhancement Board and allocated every two years to watershed councils. Sherman County has two Small Grant Areas, Lower John Day and the Lower Deschutes. Small Grants award up to $15,000 for on-the-ground restoration projects. You have two years to complete these projects. Projects are approved monthly by the Small Grant Team at the SWCD Board Meetings.
Projects can include improving cropland health, improving range health, restoring riparian processes, improving fish passage, increasing watering facilities for wildlife and livestock, managing weeds and other vegetation, increasing water use efficiency and more!
Contact the office if you are interested in applying for a Small Grant project.
Large Grant Funding
Large grants are funds through the Oregon Watershed Enhancement Board. Grants are awarded twice a year. These grants cost share 75% with no limit and we have four years to complete the projects. These grants are a good option for bigger projects and projects with a longer timescale. We generally apply with a group of producers. In the past we have done upland restoration and range restoration large grants. Let us know if you have restoration projects you would like to complete in your riparian areas, croplands, or range.
